Welcome to the Travel Management Project
"The best way to know what's needed is to ask the person that does it"
- Paul Findlay, Project Manager
This project is funded by Finance and Business Services and sponsored by the Executive Director (Operations).
In consultation with the UQ Traveller community, the Travel Management Project will identify opportunities, then implement changes, to improve policy and process across all aspects of travel at UQ.
For example:
At time of booking:
1.
Reduce the amount of paperwork required to take a simple trip
2.
Enable individuals to book the cheapest available flights on the web
3.
Improve service levels and prices quoted by Campus Travel
4.
Find alternatives to raising purchase orders in UniFi to pay for flights before quote expiry (such as a ghost card, or cash passports)
5.
Introduce a new user-friendly comprehensive UQ Travel website, including a feedback email address
During Travel:
1.
Find a better way of covering costs than advances and acquittals
2.
Reduce duplication of the effort required to track staff whereabouts in cases of an emergency
After Travel:
1.
Ensure legislative requirements are achieved with minimum paperwork and duplication of effort
2.
Implement faster ways of settling/reconciling expenses
3.
Eliminate opportunities for improper use of Uni funds, or ‘double dipping’ for allowances and reimbursement
4.
Report on, and neutralise carbon emissions
“If you or your area would like to contribute, or have a meeting about the travel project, please don’t hesitate to ask. We welcome the opportunity to attend meetings, morning teas, or any forum to share information and learn more about your needs”
